Great Lakes Transportation Association is about to release new pricing and membership options for their Public Service School Bus Safety Announcements. Consortiums in Ontario can access safety messages in one spot. Easy, efficient and most importantly…spreading the word on safety!! More info to come….
Our Association just released two new Public Service Announcements to increase the awareness and prevention of Bullying on the School Bus. Steve Howe, Manager of Communications for the Avon Maitland District School Board, was instrumental in creating and producing these spots for Radio Media. They promote the ‘Bully-Free Zone’ decals we have posted in all member School Buses. They also educate students and parents on who they can talk to if they experience or witness bullying on the School Bus. Listen to them on Mix 106.5, Country 93, 94.5 The Bull and 101.7 The One. Or click on Safety Video tab below to listen to them on our website.
It’s school bus safety week next week. A perfect time to remind motorists, parents, students, and teachers about school bus safety. Our Association considers school bus safety on a daily basis. We have been proactive in creating Public Service Announcements that highlight many safety messages. These messages are played on the radio and CTV 2 London through out the school year. Take a moment to click on the safety tips or safety video link on the side column to view our safety messages.
Our latest safety Public Service Announcement is ready!! Listen on August 29, 2011 to Blackburn Radio (The Bull & The One) and Bayshore Broadcasting (Mix 106 & Country 93).
A huge thank-you to Steve Howe, Manager of Communications for the Avon Maitland School Board for recording and producing these spots. As well, thank-you to Livia and Gareth for volunteering their voices.
Stay tuned for more Radio Spots to come.
On Wednesday July 20, 2011 The Great Lakes Transportation Members met at the Avon Maitland District School Board and under the direction of Mr. Steve Howe, Communications Manager for the School Board, taped 4/30 sec Safety Messages. Helping us with our project were two Avon Maitland Students, Gareth ArturoMarks & Livia Swan. Gareth and Livia were ‘naturals’ as they recorded the lines to remind parents and students that School Buses are ‘Bully-Free Zones’. Final spots will air this coming September on Radio Stations in Bruce-Grey, Huron-Perth, and Middlesex.
Members of the Great Lakes Association asked for clarification on school vehicles crossing a closed Highway. If a Highway is closed at two main intersections because of an accident but the accident is only specific to a small portion of the Highway, could a school vehicle reroute and cross at a concession road further down but still part of the closed highway? The answer is NO! See letter in Safety Tips.
It is with warm greetings that we welcome and introduce Mr. David Frier as a new Great Lakes Transportation Association Member. David accepted the position of the Huron-Perth Student Transportation Services Manager in July 2010. David as a long history in the Student Transportation Industry and will be a great addition to our Association.
Mr. Dennis Harris, the Transportation Manager of the Huron Perth Student Transportation Services announces his retirement! Dennis was a member of the Association since it’s inception. Dennis always had new and innovative ideas to bring to the meetings. He played a crucial part in getting the Public Service Announcement Project underway and involving the AMDSB’s Manager of Communications to help over see the themes of each PSA. Dennis never hesitated to go out of his way to host a meeting, involve necessary guests to participate in member discussions, and follow through on plans of action. Dennis’ number one priority in both his work and member duties was ’student safety!’
Best wishes on your retirement!
Members of the Great Lakes Association attend the conference in Ottawa and participated in the best practices booth that showcased Transportation Consortiums from the province. We proudly displayed our Public Service Announcements on Student Safety. Attendees were able to hear the new Radio spots and see the TV Announcements. A free UBS Stick was handed out to all that stopped by. It contained a low resolution copy of all our PSA’s. It was our hope to generate sales of the Licence available to customers. This Licence allows customers to acquire our PSA’s and play them on their local Media outlets. Our booth was such a success that we ran out of USB handouts within the first hour. A big THANK-YOU to Mr. Lustig and Mrs. Hewgill – Randall for their help in organizing and manning the booth.
